Nine African teams storm World Cup knock-outs, but only two progress

For the first time in history, nine African nations reached the knockout stage of a FIFA World Cup, a remarkable leap from the two teams that advanced past the group stage in Qatar 2022. Yet by the time the round of 32 came to a close, only Morocco and Egypt remained standing; a disheartening phenomenon, not only for the fans of the participating nations but for the entire continent.
